  • Youth Engagment
We’re proud to share that our recent follow-up emergency and outbreak preparedness workshop with the Measina Youth/Volleyball Club was a vibrant success, full of energy, insight, and leadership from our youth.
Building on the foundations laid in our first session, this workshop focused on practical emergency and outbreak preparedness, with a special lens on individual and community response, communication, and well-being. Our young leaders came ready with reflections and a strong sense of responsibility.
To'oto'o O le Manino Church Programme
InformationNZ and HealthNZ recently partnered to deliver two educational workshops focused on measles vaccination and emergency preparedness. Hosted at Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, Stokes Valley and Ekalesia Nasareta Samoa, Wainuiomata, these sessions brought vital health messages directly into trusted community spaces.
Both churches welcomed the kaupapa with open hearts, encouraging their congregations to protect their families and wider community. The workshops were well attended and warmly received, with many participants signing up for measles vaccinations on the day. This strong show of support reflects the deep commitment of our faith communities to collective wellbeing and resilience.

  • Latest Update: Strengthening Health Literacy and Community Wellbeing
    21–22 February 2026
InformationNZ continues to support Pacific communities through practical, accessible health education and community‑led initiatives. Over the weekend of 21 and 22 February 2026, our team delivered a successful series of workshops and a pop‑up community vaccination clinic at Pahina o Tokelau in Porirua.
The vaccination clinic saw an excellent turnout, with vaccinators administering more than 100 vaccines. This community‑driven effort is expected to contribute positively to immunisation rates for Pacific families in the Porirua region.
In Lower Hutt, we partnered with nine Catholic churches to deliver an education workshop focused on reducing alcohol harm and understanding the impact of alcohol on diabetes. Led by our diabetes nurse specialist, the session provided practical knowledge to support diabetes prevention and management. Community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with strong interest in further diabetes education workshops.
These initiatives reflect our commitment to improving health literacy — ensuring individuals and families have the knowledge, confidence, and support to make informed decisions about their health. Research consistently shows that strong health literacy leads to better health outcomes, improved chronic disease management, and greater engagement with preventive care. For Pacific communities, strengthening health literacy is essential to reducing inequities and supporting long‑term wellbeing.
We look forward to receiving our facility ID, which will allow us to capture and report data from upcoming clinics, including this Saturday’s event.
InformationNZ remains dedicated to empowering communities with trusted information, culturally grounded education, and accessible support services.
  • Why Vaccination Matters: Protecting Our Families, Strengthening Our Communities

Vaccination is one of the simplest and most powerful ways we can protect our families. For Pacific communities, where we live closely with our elders, children, and extended aiga, staying up to date with vaccinations helps keep everyone safe — especially those who are most vulnerable.

    Keeping Our Community Safe

Vaccines help prevent the spread of serious illnesses that can lead to hospitalisation or long‑term health problems. When more people are vaccinated, it becomes harder for diseases to spread. This protects:
    Babies and young children
    Elders
    Pregnant women
    People with long‑term health conditions
Anyone with a weakened immune system
For many families, one person getting sick can affect the whole household. Vaccination reduces that risk and helps keep our homes healthy and strong.

    Vaccines Are Safe and Well‑Tested

Vaccines go through years of research, testing, and monitoring before they are approved. They continue to be checked for safety even after they are in use. Most side effects are mild and temporary — like a sore arm or feeling tired — and are far less serious than the diseases they prevent.

    Preventing Outbreaks in Our Communities

When vaccination rates drop, diseases can return quickly. We’ve seen this with measles outbreaks in Aotearoa and across the Pacific. High vaccination rates help prevent these outbreaks and protect those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

Supporting Health and Wellbeing for the Long Term

Vaccination is not just about avoiding illness today — it’s about building long‑term wellbeing. Staying up to date with vaccines helps reduce:
    Hospital visits
    Time off work or school
Pressure on families caring for sick loved ones
The spread of preventable diseases in our communities

    InformationNZ Is Here to Help

Our vaccination clinics are designed to be welcoming, accessible, and supportive. Whether you’re getting vaccinated for the first time, catching up, or bringing your family, our team is here to make the process easy and comfortable.
We work alongside Pacific families, churches, and community groups to ensure everyone has the information and support they need to make confident, informed decisions about their health.

    Together, We Protect Each Other

Vaccination is an act of care — for ourselves, our children, our elders, and our wider community. When we choose to vaccinate, we choose to protect the people we love.
    Your health and safety matter.
